THE 2021 DYE JUNIOR GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP AT CROOKED STICK

The mission of “The Dye” is to honor the legacy of champion golfers and world-renowned course designers Pete & Alice Dye. The Dyes gave birth to Crooked Stick Golf Club in 1964 and made their home alongside its 18th fairway for many decades. To honor Pete and Alice, the club’s membership has created an annual Junior Invitational featuring national elite junior players. The inaugural championship was just completed with Laney Frye and John Marshall Butler, both from Kentucky, earning first-place finishes.

Travel

Flying into Indianapolis, you will use the Indianapolis International Airport. It is located 25 miles southwest of the Crooked Stick Golf Club. The club sits on the northside of Indianapolis about 30 minutes directly north from the downtown area.

Accommodations

Your options include a designated host hotel near the golf club. Crooked Stick has arranged for blocks of rooms and rates for participants at three local hotels and there are numerous other lodging options available in the area.

Transportation

Players and families staying in hotels will be subject to finding their own transportation to and from the golf course for the tournament days. Rental cars can be arranged directly at the airport along with Uber rides if that is your choice.

Caddies

Players are allowed to carry their own clubs, use a pushcart (we have Sun Mountain Speed carts available at no cost), or use a caddie. We are encouraging players to have a sibling, parent, coach, etc. caddie for them. If you need a caddie, please contact Martha Faulconer and we will arrange for a local caddie for your round. It is the player's responsibility to pay their local caddie and the cost is $75 per round.

Practice Area Access

Players will have access to the grounds and practice areas of Crooked Stick beginning Sunday, June 6th from 1 pm to 8 pm, Monday, June 7th from 6:30 AM to 10:00 AM, and Tuesday, June 8th from 6:30 AM to 10:00 AM.

Practice rounds for the Dye Junior Invitational will be limited to Sunday, June 6th, 2021 with a shotgun start at 2:30 pm.

If you are arriving in Indianapolis ahead of Sunday, our professional staff can assist in setting up play at other area golf courses to fit your travel schedule.

PLAYING CROOKED STICK

A player at Crooked Stick will find that no consecutive holes are laid out in the same direction, one must constantly adjust to wind from a different tack, long holes are followed by short holes, and shots calling for right-to-left flight are followed by shots requiring a left-to-right path. Pete and Alice Dye have designed Crooked Stick to test a player’s “poise, courage and intelligence,” as well as his or her skill. You can look ahead or look back and the natural beauty of each hole extends before you. But the more familiar you are with the course, the more you see what is waiting for you. It does not let up, and it never lets you down.
